40-something Gwen Stefani was just named a global ambassador for Revlon. Stefani told WWD she has been obsessed with makeup her whole life. She is also a former Borghese makeup artist. (Who knew?!) I can’t wait to see what she and Revlon come up with. (Allure) (WWD)
At this week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, L’Oreal debuted a new ‘smart’ hairbrush. The Kerastase Hair Coach has sensors that determine the effects of different hair care routines on the quality of your hair. The brush connects to an app on your phone, and tells you how often you are brushing your hair and warns you if you brush too hard. The Hair Coach will retail for less than $200 and will be available this fall. (Fortune)
In this first week of 2017, Allure has done two posts about the skin benefits of chia seed oil. Apparently, the stuff is full of fatty acids that are great for your skin. I will definitely look into this and report back in a separate post. You can read the Allure posts here and here.

This week on the blog, I talked about Subway Therapy, a project to let New Yorkers express their feelings about the election. On sticky notes. In a subway station. I also posted my better pictures from the 25 Days of Christmas Photo-a-Day Challenge.
This year, I’m doing the Eyecandy Project 52 photography challenge. Every week, we have to take a picture inspired by a prompt relevant to the time of year. I’m thinking I’ll post my more successful efforts here about once a quarter. Wish me luck!
