At The Makeup Show last month, I found myself sitting with Nancy Crossley, founder of Beauty So Clean, a line of makeup and makeup brush sanitizing products. While we hung out at brunch, Nancy and her daughter told me the story behind Beauty So Clean.
Nancy is a makeup artist who (naturally) wanted the makeup and brushes in her kit to be sanitary for her clients. Unfortunately, the only way to really sanitize the stuff was with alcohol, which could really dry out the makeup and brushes.
So Nancy consulted with her fellow makeup artists and others in the makeup industry, and Beauty So Clean was born. The product range includes makeup sanitizing wipes and sprays, brush cleaners, and even a false eye lash cleaner.
I need to go through my makeup stash, and weed out all the old stuff that isn’t working for me anymore. Nancy was kind enough to gift me a bag of Beauty So Clean products when I stopped by her booth at the show, so I will be using those on what I keep.*
You know, those lipsticks I love, but only wear in the summer. Blushes I haven’t worn in a while, but are flattering on my skin tone, so I want to add them back into the rotation. That kind of thing.
The Beauty So Clean products will be great for my mascara and eyeliner, too. I have GPC, or global papillary conjunctivitis. I am hyperallergic to the bacteria that builds up on eyeliner, mascara, and contact lenses. I have to be diligent about replacing my mascara every three months, and I wear disposable contact lenses.
Beauty So Clean will be a big help with keeping my eye makeup clean, so I don’t get pink eye. Cool!
Tell me. How do you sanitize your makeup? Do you sanitize your makeup? It never really occurred to me to do so, because I am not a makeup artist, so I am the only one using my makeup. But after talking with Nancy, I need to rethink that. Let’s talk cleanliness in the comments!
This year, I’m doing the Eyecandy Project 52 photography challenge. Every week, we have to take a picture inspired by a prompt, such as From Above. Some prompts are relevant to the time of year, some are more evergreen. I’ll post my more successful efforts here about once a quarter. Check out the Q1 highlights here.
