Photography: Central Park, Part 2

Here’s part 2 of the Central Park photo trek, for all your Hump Day procrastination needs. You can check out part 1 here and the Columbus Circle portion of the trek here.

This juggler kept everyone entertained!

The park lends itself to gorgeous foilage pictures! It’ll be great in the fall!

And yes. here’s another statue of Columbus.

This year, I’m doing the Eyecandy Project 52 photography challenge. Every week, we have to take a picture inspired by a prompt, such as From Above. Some prompts are relevant to the time of year, some are more evergreen. I’ll post my more successful efforts here about once a quarter. Check out the Q1 highlights here and the best of Q2 here.

Photography: Central Park, Part 1

Remember the Columbus Circle photo trek? Well, after Columbus Circle, we crossed the street into Central Park. Even though it was a little overcast, the park offers a ton of great photo opportunities! Enjoy part 1! (Part 2 coming later in the week, I promise!)

The Central Park Carousel is one of the park’s better known attractions. It was originally powered by horse and mule. It was closed when we got there, but I got these two good shots.

I think I caught these guys by surprise!

I love this little footbridge, called Pine Bank Arch. It was featured in the movie Elf.

I like the geometric feel of this photo.

Photography: Columbus Circle

A few weeks ago, I went on my first outing with a meetup group called NYC Photo Treks. We went to Columbus Circle and Central Park. I wish it hadn’t been so overcast, but I got some great shots!

This steel globe on the north side of the Circle is in front of, well, Trump International Hotel and Tower. I was trying to let the globe lead your eye to the building.

This statue of Christopher Columbus is by the sculptor Gaetano Russo.

This winged boy holding a globe at the base of the statue pays homage to global exploration.

Columbus Circle has a few fountains, so I went a little nuts trying to get good pictures of the water. By cranking up my shutter speed and opening up the aperture, I was able to get some stop action shots (as seen here and in the pic below).

I hope you enjoyed these! I have more from Central Park, which I will post this week. I also did a trek to The Eldridge Street Synagogue and Museum on NYC’s Lower East Side and NYC’s Chinatown. I’ll be posting those, too!
