Loved the colors in these tulips!

The long March is finally over! (Sorry, I couldn’t resist.) This past week, I finished two articles for The Doctor while I hung out at different Kettle Space co-working spaces. So far, I really like it. It’s a library-like vibe, so I’m more able to focus on getting work done, versus when I’m working from home.

A few exciting launches were announced this week. Ready?

First the important stuff. Urban Decay has announced the details of it’s Game of Thrones collection. Check it out below. I’m into the Mother of Dragons highlighter palette myself. It drops at select Macy’s and macys.com, Ulta and ulta.com, Sephora and sephora.com, and urbandecay.com on April 13.

Drew Barrymore’s brand is expanding into home decor. Flower Home is now available on walmart.com, jet.com, and hayneedle.com. I’ve always been a big fan of Drew, ever since Boys On the Side and The Wedding Singer. She seems fun and down-to-earth, yet quirky, like me. And she’s a pretty savvy businesswoman. With design ideas inspired by Barrymore’s own homes and travels, Flower Home is a great way to perk up your place without breaking the bank. You know me. I’m drooling over this vase. (WWD)

And remember last week, when Amazon announced it was getting into skin care with Belei, and Saks Off Fifth announced it was launching it’s own cosmetics line? This week, QVC announced it is also jumping on the in-house ‘brandwagon’, so to speak. The retailer is working with makeup artist Carmindy (from What Not to Wear) and Batallure Beauty to develop Carmindy Beauty, QVC’s first exclusive beauty brand. The line comprises 16 products, including makeup brushes. Look for it in September. (WWD)

And BTW, how cute are these cheek and eye palettes that look like license plates, courtesy of The Balm?

Fabulous Links: Lee Radziwill and Karl Lagerfeld

https://www.instagram.com/p/BuHz76DFmDv/

It was a short week here in the U.S. with President’s Day and all, so there’s not that much to report from beauty land. But unfortunately, we did lose two style icons, Lee Radziwill, Jackie O’s younger sister, and Karl Lagerfeld, prolific designer for Chloe, Chanel, and Fendi.

Radziwill, a former princess, passed away on February 15 in NYC. She was 85. It must have been tough living in Jackie’s shadow, but Radziwill looked good doing it. Who knew she was actually the more fashionable of the two, and passed along style tips and snuck French couture to her big sister? Radziwill also knew her way around upholstery and paint swatches, having dabbled in interior design for a while. And for you Real Housewives fans out there, Carole Radziwill of RHONY is the widow of Radziwill’s son, Anthony. Here’s her New York Times obit. (The New York Times) And Women’s Wear Daily was kind enough to put together a slideshow to commemorate her style. (WWD)

On February 19, the fashion world lost one of its giants, Karl Lagerfeld. He passed away in Paris. Like most fashionistas, he was somewhat vague about his age, although it was officially given as 85. Known for modernizing classic couture, he also created the concept of the Fun Fur: luxury pelts such as mink that were dyed and shaved, then made into never-before-seen creations.

No tribute to Lagerfeld is complete without a mention of his beloved Birman cat Choupette. Lagerfeld understood cats are really just royalty with fur and fangs, and treated Choupette accordingly. She wore diamond collars and had her own Instagram account. Choupette was often photographed with Lagerfeld, and was known to fly on his private plane. (When given a peek into Choupette’s life, my cats developed serious FOMO. Poor babies.)

Here is Lagerfeld’s obit in The New York Times. (The New York Times) And since the Oscars are today, here is a look back at some of his designs for Chanel on the red carpet. (WWD) Lagerfeld was also known for his witty, sometimes snarky quotes. Here’s a few of them. (WWD)

And so I don’t leave you on such a downbeat note, Urban Decay announced this week it’s launching a Game of Thrones-themed makeup collection. It drops in April, just in time for the series’ final season. BTW, am I the only person left on the planet who has not seen GoT?! (Allure)

And finally, this week on the blog, I talked about the importance of self care, and what self care means for me. What does it mean for you? February has just five days left. Can you believe it?! Hang in there people!
