Fabulous Links: Valentine’s Edition

This sculpture is called Diana, and it is in the Charles Engelhard Court at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. I thought it looked like Cupid, so it was appropriate for Valentine’s Day.

I hope you all are enjoying the long weekend! I’ve been Miranda’ing my way through February. I’ve also been cleaning out the folders in my email, and decided a few Fabulous Links were in order.

Speaking of Miranda, Lynn Cohen, the actress who played Miranda’s no-nonsense housekeeper Magda, has passed away at the age of 86. I’m sure she’s snooping through night stand “goody drawers” in heaven. Cohen had a pretty long and storied career. Check out her obit on people.com here and Sarah Jessica Parker’s sweet Instagram tribute here.

Pantone has picked Classic Blue as it’s Color of the Year for 2020, and I’m not mad about it. (Fashion Network)

A few years ago, I received a letter from none other than Leonard Lauder. Yup, Estee’s son. He wrote in response to an article I did for Daily Glow about the death of his wife, Evelyn. In November, he was honored at the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund gala. He received the Women’s Leadership Award for his support of women’s issues and his philanthropic work. (WWD)

I always thought it was so sweet he wrote to me. I still have the letter.

So what is everyone up to this long weekend? Let’s talk winter break in the comments!

Kicking Off 2019!

Me In the Beginning

Wow! I have not blogged since August! I thought my last post was in October. I’ve actually had to address a few things health wise, so that was a priority. (I’m fine. I was auditioning new eye doctors and ear doctors.) I also Marie Kondo’d the hell out of my apartment. All the clutter was really affecting my mental health.

And I was on the committee for the Newswomen’s Club of New York annual Front Page Awards. That definitely kept me busy. A wonderful evening celebrating top female journos was had by all.

Yup. That’s the master himself, Carl Bernstein. He was at the Front Page Awards to present an award to the NY Times’ Maggie Haberman. He is north of 80, and rearranged his schedule to take a train from Washington, DC, to be there. I am not worthy.

But I am going to do my best and return here on a regular basis. And I see by my e-mail notifications I have a few new followers. Welcome, ladies!

I thought a few Fabulous Links would get us started.

Jennifer Lopez is coming out with a makeup line this year. The woman looks better at 49 than I did at 29. I’ll have what she’s having. (Refinery 29)

You may have heard. The Pantone Color of the Year for 2019 is called Living Coral. I love coral clothes and makeup, especially for the warmer weather. I can’t wait! Check out these picks from Allure for inspiration. (Allure) How gorgeous is that Almay palette…

If you love New York City as much as I do, you may have heard about Bond No. 9, a line of perfumes inspired by locations around the Big Apple. Now the brand has come out with a line of red lipsticks. If you are always searching for that perfect red, like me, your search may be over. (Allure)

Gray hair is apparently trending. (Wall Street Journal)

Oh, and Jean Ann Ford, co-founder of Benefit Cosmetics, has passed. Truly an innovator. She will be missed. (Allure)

As for me, I am participating in Everyday Eyecandy‘s Project 52 photography project this year. The first prompt is You In the Beginning. That’s me above. In the beginning. I’ll keep you updated on how it’s going. I loved picking my camera up again,

I am still writing for The Doctor Will See You Now. One of my articles last month was about endocrine-disrupting chemicals in personal care products and their link to early puberty in girls. You can check that out here.

In 2019, I looking to spend more time doing what I love: blogging and photography. What are you looking to accomplish in 2019? Let’s talk goals and resolutions in the comments!
