Photography: New York City Skyline Photo Shoot, Part 2

I hope everyone had a great Fourth! Remember last week when I said I’d share more photos from the skyline photography workshop I took? Well, here they are!

I love this sailboat!

This photo of the Empire State Building before it is lit up for Pride Week looks very haunting.

The historic Hoboken terminal. It’s a major transportation hub around here.

I love the red of the W against the deep blue sky.

This pic makes this office building look eerie.

One WTC, the Freedom Tower, as seen through my new lens!

Lots of people took boats out to view the scenery and watch fireworks.

I just like the clouds and sunset in this pic. The weather was gorgeous!

I thought it would be fun to have a little photo week here on the blog, seeing as it’s sort of a vacation week with the holiday and all. I have a few photos to share from a walk I took on The Highline in NYC, too. Oh, and the Q2 pics from the Everyday Eyecandy Project 52. I’ll get to those shortly…

Tell me. Have you ever attempted night photography? Or photographing fireworks? I never did before I took this workshop on June 25. Share any tips you may have in the comments!

This year, I’m doing the Eyecandy Project 52 photography challenge. Every week, we have to take a picture inspired by a prompt, such as From Above. Some prompts are relevant to the time of year, some are more evergreen. I’ll post my more successful efforts here about once a quarter. Check out the Q1 highlights here.

Photography: New York City Skyline Photo Shoot, Part 1

Last week was Pride Week here in New York City. Pride Week wraps up with a fireworks display in front of One World Trade Center, aka the Freedom Tower.

Every year, my photography teacher runs a Skyline at Night photography workshop on the last day of Pride Week, so students can practice photographing the NYC skyline at dusk and the fireworks display once it gets dark. Of course, I joined in the fun!

I wanted to share my favorite shots of the Empire State Building and One WTC lit up in rainbow colors for Pride Week, and a few pics of the fireworks. If you’ve never photographed fireworks before (I hadn’t) they can be tricky to capture, but I got some good pictures. Enjoy!

My photography friend Kelly posted her fireworks pic on Instagram with this quote from one of my favorite movies, Love Actually: “If you look for it, I’ve got a feeling you’ll find that LOVE actually is all around.” Well said!

I’ll post the more evergreen skyline photos a little later this week.
