What I’m Looking Forward To This Fall

Took this night shot in Hoboken for Photo 2. Doesn’t it look eerie?

Hmm. How come I haven’t posted in over two months?! Now that we’re on the other side of Labor Day, and I see a few new people have subscribed to the blog (hi, ladies!), I need to step it up. I hope you all had a great summer!

That said, I love the fall. There’s so much to look forward to! I am doing a photo trek to NYC’s Chinatown and the Eldridge Street Synagogue on September 29th. I’m also doing a trek in mid-October to the Chrysler Building and the UN, and another in early November to the Statue of Liberty.

Bridal Fashion Week is coming up from October 3 to 6. So far I’ve gotten invited to just. one. show. Boo! Hopefully, I’ll get invited to more!

I am a big reader. I can’t wait to read these two new books:

The Secrets We Kept by Lara Prescott. This spy drama is set during the Cold War. It combines Mad Men-era style with a good thriller, according to EW.com. I’m in! This book just came out on September 3.

The World That We Knew by Alice Hoffman. EW.com says it’s a Holocaust survival story that has elements of ‘magical realism’. Three young girls on the run use unconventional ways to elude their Nazi pursuers. This one comes out on September 24.

And on September 17 and 18th, I’ll be at the BlogHer 19 Creators Summit in Brooklyn. I can’t wait! Speakers include actress Connie Britton and Carly Zakin and Danielle Weisburg, co-founders of theSkimm! (Trust me, you need theSkimm in your life. And did I mention it’s free?!)

Tell me. What are you looking forward to this fall? Let’s get seasonal in the comments!

I’ve actually been more active over on Instagram thus summer. I retook Photo 2 starting in May, and the class ran through July. I did my final picture story on the Gramercy Typewriter Co., one of just two typewriter repair places left in the country. They sell and repair typewriters, and apparently supply typewriters for Broadway shows, movies, and TV. (They supplied the typewriters for Can You Ever Forgive Me? with Melissa McCarthy.) You can see the highlights of my photos on my Instagram here.
